This is the God Mirror of the Five Peaks from Kinpusen-ji Temple in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture, famous as the strongest amulet (made of metal, with the Five Peaks True Form Diagram on one side and a mirror on the other). While the Nine-Layered Amulet requires unfurling a scroll and wishing in times of crisis, this mirror type is convenient for carrying.
This is an amulet called the God Mirror of the Five Peaks, known for its benefits in warding off evil. It is a square mirror engraved with the Taoist Five Peaks True Form Diagram charm, popular as a lifelong, ultimate amulet that is said to preemptively remove impending harm.
According to the Dictionary of Buddhism, Those who possess this mirror will be protected by water deities when crossing seas and rivers, and by mountain deities when crossing mountains. They will be free from the harm of all evil beasts, and demons and poisons will fear and dare not approach.
Some practitioners of Shugendo (mountain asceticism) actually carry this amulet when training on Mt. Omine.
