【Dragonfly Specimen】Martens' Hawker? Giant Dragonfly Insect Repellent Strap Oniyanma
Scientific Name: Anaciaeschna martini?
The Martini's darner (Anaciaeschna martini) is an insect belonging to the order Odonata and the family Aeshnidae. The Japanese common name is derived from being named in honor of the French dragonfly scholar R. Martin.
Males measure 65-81 mm in total length, 43-57 mm in abdominal length, and 41-47 mm in hindwing length. Females measure 72-84 mm in total length, 53-63 mm in abdominal length, and 44-50 mm in hindwing length, making them slightly larger than other species in the same genus, such as the Brown darner.
The body color is brown, and the markings are yellow in both males and females when immature. In mature males, the markings and compound eyes turn cobalt blue, while in mature females, the markings turn green. As they mature, the brown color of the wings intensifies, especially noticeable at the base in females.
