[Details]
Tendai sect Amida-san Zenshōin Jōgōji Temple is a lush temple located in Jōkōgō, Tamura Town, Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture.
The temple is believed to have been founded around the 1540s, as it appears in ancient documents from that era.
Most of the temple was destroyed in a large fire in 1749, and the current main hall was rebuilt in 1758.
Temple treasures include a Fudo Myoo statue (Azuchi-Momoyama period) that was carried out during the great fire, and a Jizo Bosatsu statue (66th temple of the Oshu 108 Jizo pilgrimage) donated by parishioners.
Sitting in front of the main hall, it was a very calming temple where you would want to take your time.
