Shinoda Paper Manufacturing is a Kyoto-based company that has been manufacturing paper cloth since 1915 (Taisho 4).
The company was founded by Shinshaku Shinoda, who aimed to create a purely domestic version of the processed paper called paper cloth, which was imported from Europe and America at the time, with a group of paper artisans.
At the time of its founding, the manufacturing technology and quality of European and American paper cloth were overwhelmingly high, and there were very few companies in Japan that manufactured it.
The manufacturing process itself was a continuous trial and error, but through the unceasing efforts of the artisans, they succeeded in manufacturing domestic paper cloth in 1917. The manufacturing technology and know-how have continued uninterrupted for a century to this day.

The paper cloth, which is finished through processes such as color mixing, coloring, surface gloss treatment, embossing, and cutting, is very labor-intensive and time-consuming, but it brings a unique depth of color and a warm texture that cannot be expressed through printing.
