A stamp tray (kitte-bon) is a small, lacquered square tray used to present envelopes (for celebrations, offerings, or condolences) to someone. Instead of handing it over directly, placing it on the tray signifies respect for the recipient and politeness, making it an essential item for ceremonies and events. Its main uses are for memorial services, weddings, and betrothal ceremonies, and it is also known as a shugi-bon (celebration tray) or meishi-bon (business card tray).
