Elegant Pen was the former company name of Tachikawa.
These are from the former company name of Tachikawa, one of today's two major brands.

Spoon pens are
dip pen nibs, popular for penmanship practice and manga.
They are a classic nib for penmanship,
and are popular among many penmanship enthusiasts.
Many teachers use them for writing Kanji in Kaisho and Gyosho styles, as well as Kana.
The nib opens smoothly, making it easy to create thick and thin lines in penmanship works, with little resistance on the paper.
We believe they are easy to handle even for beginners.
They are a popular nib that ranks among the top 4 recommended dip pens for penmanship practice.

They are no longer manufactured and are considered rare nibs.
While it can be difficult to create variations in line thickness with standard nibs for penmanship practice, similar to brush pens, spoon pens (also known as Kabura pens)
have smooth opening and closing of the nib, making it relatively easy to vary line thickness.
Furthermore, depending on the angle of the pen, you can achieve even more variation in thickness and line weight.
These nibs are recommended for both beginners and experienced users.

Currently, the Japanese pen nib brands available are
Tachikawa, Nikko, and Zebra.
Nikko brand was inherited by Tachikawa, so the manufacturing companies are
now only Tachikawa and Zebra.
It seems that teachers from the Japan Penmanship Study Association also used them in the past.

There are stories that older items have better performance.
During the period of high economic growth, around 1985, the production of dip pens was 1 million gross
(1 gross is 144 pieces), which is an astronomical number.

The nibs
were manufactured by craftsmen using machines, but it is said that they still use the same machines today.
As the number of craftsmen from that era has decreased, I have heard that the skills of those old craftsmen were higher.

Also, chrome-colored nibs have less deterioration
and are said to retain their original performance even today.

I also enjoy penmanship, and I change my nibs depending on what I am writing.
