Description
Tachikawa / T-44 Japanese Pen Nib (Product Number: T44-3)
Engraved with No. 44 TACHIKAWA MADE IN JAPAN.

This nib is designed for Japanese calligraphy and was developed in Japan. It's less likely to snag than spoon or G pens, making it beginner-friendly.

◆ The Japanese pen nib was developed in Japan for writing Kanji and Hiragana. It is slightly stiffer than a G pen.
---------------------------------
This nib offers a smooth, free-flowing line with minimal snagging, characteristic of dip pens.

It allows for soft, smooth, and versatile strokes.
We believe this is an ideal nib for dip pen beginners who want to draw with a feel similar to pencils or ballpoint pens. It's also a popular choice for manga artists.
----------------------
● The difference between Tachikawa and Nikko brands lies in their stiffness. The materials and subtle design variations result in Tachikawa nibs being stiffer than Nikko nibs.

◆ About Nib Manufacturers ◆
Lion nibs were produced by the office equipment company LION, but they are no longer manufactured.
Production and sales of nibs ceased in 1996, over 20 years ago, making them a brand that will eventually disappear.

Currently, the Japanese nib brands available are Tachikawa, Nikko, and Zebra.

Tachikawa has taken over the Nikko brand, so the only manufacturers are Tachikawa and Zebra.

There are claims that older products perform better.
Around 1985 (Showa 60), during Japan's period of high economic growth, the production of dip pens reached an astronomical figure of 1 million gross (1 gross = 144 pens).
However, with the changing times, government offices and banks also transitioned to ballpoint pens.

Nibs
In the past, many nibs were produced by a large workforce, including many skilled artisans.
It is said that they still use the same manufacturing machines from that era.
The number of workers has drastically decreased compared to the past, and many of the artisans who worked during the mass production era possessed high skills.
We have heard that products from that era are superior.

Additionally,
we have heard that they write smoothly without snagging,
but we present this as information for reference only.

Furthermore, chrome-plated nibs are less prone to deterioration and are said to retain their original performance even today.
