[Nara - Brush Artisan Akashiya]
For brush making, a selection of over a dozen types of animal hair is chosen for their balanced softness and stiffness, and good ink absorption. The quality of the brush varies depending on the animal species, the time of year the hair was collected, and the part of the body the hair came from.
The brush-making technique, which skillfully combines a wide variety of hair types with different elasticities, strengths, and lengths, is born from the experience and research efforts of brush artisans over many years.
Combined with traditional techniques, this results in brushes with a unique finish to the tip, which have been continuously produced as Nara brushes.
