■ Plum and Bush Warbler Spring Love Glass
This piece features a plum and bush warbler design sandblasted onto overlay glass, also used in kiriko glasswork.

The bush warbler is also known as the spring herald bird.
It sings its distinctive ho-hokekyo song from around February and has long been cherished as a bird that announces spring and a bird that recites songs. By combining the bush warbler, which has long been associated with plum blossoms in Japanese poetry, with plum blossoms, this glass is designed to evoke a longing for spring.

The deep red color, characteristic of overlay glass, is meticulously carved. The plum blossoms have a subtle hand-applied gradient towards the center, and plum blossoms are also placed at the bottom as an accent.

■ Point ■
Overlay glass refers to glass with layers of different colors.
By carving away only the colored layer, various patterns and gradients are created. This also creates a stepped texture that corresponds to the color changes, giving the glass a unique feel.
Since the patterns are designed solely through carving, there is no color fading due to washing or aging.
