【Rare, Excellent Condition】Matsuura Karatsu Bizan Kiln Korean Karatsu Gourd Tokkuri (Sake Bottle) Flower Vase, Single Flower Vase

This is a gourd-shaped tokkuri (sake flask) in the Korean Karatsu style from Matsuura Karatsu Bizanga-ma, a renowned kiln that carries on traditional Karatsu ware techniques.

The kiln's mark, Bizan, is clearly stamped on the bottom of the piece as proof of its authenticity (see 3rd photo).

Unfortunately, the kiln has since closed, making this a very rare item with a decreasing presence in the market.

The Korean Karatsu style is beautifully showcased with its exquisite iron glaze (blackish-brown) as a base, over which white and bluish ash glazes flow boldly.

The balance of the glaze drips and coloration is excellent, making it a picturesque piece from any angle.
