The clasp used in this collar is designed to release when a certain amount of force is applied. Cats are three-dimensional creatures, so it is a thoughtful gesture from the owner to use a breakaway collar that will release if caught on something. Even for indoor cats, there are many dangers such as doorknobs and curtain rails, so please choose a breakaway collar for your cat.
