Gen-san's Free-Range Eggs. M to 2L size, 40 eggs (4 packs of 10). Ships at room temperature in a cardboard box.

We ship freshly laid eggs from the morning of the same day they are collected, ensuring freshness.

Our chickens are raised in a stress-free environment with consideration for animal welfare, in a free-range system.

Egg Characteristics: These eggs are from the Boris Brown chicken breed. They are reddish-brown with a high, firm yolk that is difficult to break even when picked up with chopsticks, and a well-rounded egg white. They are known as the king of red-shelled chickens. They are highly praised for their rich, deep flavor and delicious taste.

Feed: The drinking water is fresh underground water (water quality tested). The feed is made with domestic, additive-free ingredients, including rice, barley, rice bran, sweet potatoes, soybeans, oyster shells, and fish meal, which are self-mixed and fermented. Fish meal, in particular, is an important nutrient that affects the taste of the eggs, so we use fresh, additive-free bonito fish meal ordered from Kyushu. Unlike most fish meal, which is often made from farmed fish scraps, ours is a premium product made solely from bonito. This results in a delicious egg without any fishy odor.
In addition to these feeds, we also give them plenty of homegrown vegetables and green feed, which is natural green grass. Green feed is rich in natural vitamins and dietary fiber, helps maintain a slightly alkaline body pH, and promotes healthy growth, making the chickens less prone to illness. Our chickens do not have their beaks trimmed (debeaked)※, so they can peck and eat hard foods like sweet potatoes and pumpkins, which are given during the winter when green feed is scarce. They especially love pumpkins and bamboo shoots.

※We do not administer any antibiotics, vaccines, or other medications for disease prevention or treatment, so you can enjoy our eggs with peace of mind.

We adhere to the Livestock Hygiene Manual for raising our chickens, and have received high evaluations during audits by the Livestock Hygiene Office.

Best Before Date: 14 days from the date of collection.
We ship on the same day the eggs are collected.

How to Use: For raw consumption, please eat within the best before date. For eggs that have passed their best before date or have cracked shells, please cook them thoroughly and consume them promptly.

※Note: Debeaking is a cruel and short-sighted practice where the tips of the beaks of young chicks are cut off to prevent them from pecking and killing other chickens due to stress or lack of fiber. Unfortunately, 90% of laying hens in Japan are debeaked.
