According to JA (Agricultural Cooperative) standards:
Kiwami (Supreme): Beautiful shape, sugar content 18 degrees or higher
Tokushuu (Special Excellent): Beautiful shape, slightly lower than Kiwami, sugar content 16 degrees or higher
Shu (Excellent): Beautiful shape, slightly lower than Tokushuu, sugar content 14 degrees or higher
Yuu (Good): Shape is inferior to Shu, sugar content 13 degrees or higher
A: Shape and appearance are inferior, sugar content 12 degrees or higher
Only melons shipped to JA in Ibaraki are sorted by optical sensor; other melons are not.
We do not stock melons from shipping cooperatives that do not have optical sensors and therefore do not know the sugar content.
