The dazzling cluster of lights spreading out in the lower right corner mimics the night view of Seoul (Myeongdong/Yongsan area) as seen from Namsan. Silhouettes resembling traditional Korean tiled roofs (Hanok) and city lights are expressed with Van Gogh's characteristic vigorous brushstrokes.
Van Gogh's sky: The swirling blue clouds in the night sky and the depiction of the golden moon and stars recreate the exact touch of The Starry Night that Van Gogh painted at the asylum in Saint-Rémy.
