Description
Thank you for looking.
This is a rare vase.
It is a vase made from a zelkova wood ink marker (sumitsubo), which carpenters use for marking.
It is a so-called kame-tsubo (turtle ink marker) with a turtle carving, but this item was specially ordered by me to be used as a vase as a hobby when I was running a hardware store for construction workers.
Therefore, it does not have a hole for the string.
Instead, the part where the cotton for the ink would normally go can hold water, allowing it to be used as a vase.
Artificial flowers are shown in the images for convenience, but you can place a kenzan (flower frog) and arrange fresh flowers.
Please note that it cannot be used as an ink marker.
Honestly, the carving is not precise, but it is probably one of the few, if not the only, ink marker vases in Japan.
How about this unique vase?
