Due to the amendment of the Industrial Safety and Health Act,
which came into effect on January 2, 2022,
traditional safety belts can no longer be used at construction sites.
Therefore, this item is no longer needed and is being listed.

While full harness type is generally required for fall arrest devices,
a waist belt type (single-point suspension) can be used when there is a risk of reaching the ground during a fall (height of 6.75m or less) for a full harness wearer.

Waist belt type safety belts used for high-altitude work in construction and other industries have been pointed out for the danger of internal organ damage and chest compression during falls. Accidents related to the use of waist belt type have also been confirmed in Japan. Furthermore, international standards adopt full harness type safety belts that support the wearer's body at multiple points such as the shoulders, waist, and thighs.
For this reason, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare held an expert committee to review the current regulations for safety belts and, based on the results*, renamed safety belts to fall arrest devices, revised their names, scope, and performance requirements, established special training, and strengthened measures to prevent labor accidents due to falls. Guidelines for the safe use of fall arrest devices have also been developed.
The structural standards for fall arrest devices were announced on January 25, 2019 (Heisei 31).
