Features

Used to smooth the surface of materials with prominent grain.
Tono-ko (powder filler) is finely ground stone powder and does not harden on its own. It returns to powder when dry. Be sure to wipe off any excess tono-ko.
If you want to flatten scratches or holes, use putty.
Dokan (grain) refers to the tubular structures in wood that transport water to branches and leaves.
Using pore stain instead of water allows you to color and seal the grain simultaneously.
Cannot be used for tono-ko finish on items like paulownia chests. Tono-ko finish is a technique used by artisans and involves unique materials such as Yashabushi nuts.

How to Use

Mix tono-ko and water in a 1:1 ratio, and apply to the wood with a brush or cloth.
While still wet, rub the tono-ko into the wood grain with a cloth.
Wipe off any remaining tono-ko from the surface and allow to dry.
