This is a hand-tied, genuine indigo-dyed fabric, gifted to me by a friend from Yunnan Province, China. Everything is done by hand from start to finish. First, the fabric is tied with cotton thread according to the design, creating intricate tie-dye patterns. Then, it's repeatedly dyed by immersing it in a vat of natural indigo dye over 20 times. After washing and drying, the threads are removed to complete the process.
???? Due to factors such as the international situation, the weak yen, and the COVID-19 pandemic, labor costs, a shortage of skilled artisans, and a decrease in natural indigo production have led to a drastic annual reduction in local production. High-quality handmade items with fine patterns are becoming increasingly rare and expensive.
● Compared to items found in kimono and Japanese雑貨 (zakka) stores, this fabric has been dyed more times, resulting in a deeper color and a thicker feel. There will be no new arrivals. I am selling it for less than 1/3 of its original retail price.
Fabric size: approx. 176cm x 146cm (No. 102109)

Color setting, usage, and washing tips:
● Color Setting
Dissolve a heaping tablespoon of salt in cold water (enough to fully submerge the fabric, 500cc - 1L) in a plastic bag. Submerge the fabric, remove air, and leave overnight. Gently rinse with water to remove saltiness and dry in the shade. This process helps fix the natural indigo dye, reduces the greenish-brown oxidation, and restores the vibrant blue color. If the color fades during use, this method will revive its vibrancy. By repeating this process, you can enjoy the gentle blue color unique to indigo for a long time!
● Usage
Be careful as colors may transfer to lighter colored fabrics or leather items due to friction. Also, be cautious when using it as a bedspread or sofa cover. It is recommended to use it after repeating the color setting and washing process a few times.
● Washing
Since indigo dye will bleed, color transfer is possible, so do not wash with other items for at least 2-3 times.
In my home, I use it as a tablecloth and bedspread. The fabric is thick and sturdy, and it's a cherished item that can be used for a long time while enjoying the color changes.
※ Although it is wrapped in paper and stored in a cool, dark place, due to the cotton material and natural indigo dye, the parts exposed to air may slightly discolor due to dye oxidation. Repeating the color setting and washing process a few times will mitigate this. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about variations in dye intensity.
