Ginza Tanizawa Flap-Over Briefcase in Box Calf Leather - Black

This is a flap-over briefcase from Ginza Tanizawa.
It appears to be a relatively recent model based on the Ginza Tanizawa plate, but it seems to be discontinued now.
It might even be a custom order.

The color is black, with gold hardware – a classic combination.
The deep black leather is stunning.
There's a fine water grain that's barely noticeable unless you look closely, and it's likely made of box calf.
Opening the flap releases a wonderful leather scent.

The interior also uses cream-colored leather, and it's equipped with multiple pockets both inside and out.
With its original lock, hand-stitched leather-wrapped handle that feels superb in your hand, and the snap buttons on the underside of the flap,
the briefcase is meticulously crafted, not just with the leather but also with thoughtful details for the user, making it a perfect example of this is exactly what I wanted.
Of course, it stands up on its own.
This kind of attention to detail, considering everyday use, is a hallmark of Ginza Tanizawa.

Above all, the size is excellent.
You'll understand when you hold it – a bag with a width of around 36cm is incredibly practical.
It fits A4-sized documents and a PC perfectly, and with one side having a wider depth, it can surprisingly hold a lot.
It doesn't get in the way when placed on your lap on the train, and you can easily hold it under your arm if needed, and above all, it's lightweight.
The fact that they still offer a wide range of sizes even today shows the pride of a bag maker.

Regarding the condition, it might be a good idea to have it repaired once.
There are scratches overall from use.
However, Ginza Tanizawa is known for its excellent after-sales support, and there are even stories of them repairing bags by re-covering the leather.
Since the size and specifications are impeccable, I recommend having it repaired once and then using it.
