Wajima-nuri Lacquerware Individual Plates, Set of 5, Chinkin Chishuu Peony, Size Approx. 10.5 x 17 cm
Wajima-nuri's Chinshu is a traditional decorative technique where patterns are carved into the surface of lacquerware, and vermilion lacquer (or gold leaf) is embedded into the grooves. Flower and bird motifs such as peonies are often carved, and it is characterized by the contrast with black lacquer and a calm sense of three-dimensionality.
