This is a beautiful enju wood tea caddy with stunning grain patterns.
The golden hues appear as you change the angle.

Enju (槐) is also known as a protective tree because the kanji for demon (鬼) is part of its name. It is a hard and durable wood, and has been used for structural pillars since ancient times. Furthermore, it has been associated with auspicious kanji such as long life (延寿) and favorable bestowal (縁授), making it a very lucky tree. The luster of the grain, which changes with the angle of light, is beautiful, and it will gradually develop a dark sheen with age.
