Handmade Walnut x White Oak Paper Knife

This is a paper knife made from walnut and white oak.

[Craftsmanship]
The handle is made of walnut, a wood renowned as one of the world's three most famous hardwoods. Walnut is a wonderful wood with a unique color, grain, and feel.

The blade is made of white oak. White oak is a very strong wood used for items requiring abrasion resistance and toughness, such as plane soles and wooden swords. It's a slightly rare wood that you won't find at home centers or on Amazon, but I decided to use it this time as I believe it's the best material for the blade of a paper knife.

I think it's a great finish, if I do say so myself.

[Characteristics and Maintenance]
As it is made of wood, its sharpness and durability are naturally inferior to metal paper knives. It is not suitable for opening dozens of envelopes for daily business use.

On the other hand, I believe it is a highly recommended finish for those who want to own a special item for opening a few envelopes a month, or as a gift.

The blade is unlikely to chip from normal opening tasks, but it can get dented if dropped or hit against hard objects. In such cases, please re-sand with sandpaper of around #400 and wipe with oil.

[Finish]
After sanding with #400 grit sandpaper, it has been finished by applying a plant-based drying oil for a hardening effect.

[General Precautions]
For wooden products, when they become dry, apply a thin coat of drying oil such as linseed oil, beeswax polish, or maintenance oil. This will prevent cracking and warping, allowing you to use it for a long time.
As this is a handmade wooden product, there may be minor scratches or uneven areas.
