◆ Our Gumi Tree
It came to our home as a large seedling about 45 years ago. It has grown well even after being transplanted in front of the entrance about 20 years ago.
In early summer, the Gumi tree provides a beautiful splash of color to the garden with the contrast of red and green.
New shoots grow tall. Utilizing these branches, we create a pleasant shade in the summer by letting the branches droop. The dappled sunlight is refreshing.
Every year, it bears a lot of large fruits, which we pick while gardening.
The unique astringency is also a characteristic of Gumi. We also enjoy making syrup with granulated sugar and mixing it with sparkling water.
In winter, wild birds often perch on the leafless branches. We have not seen them peck at the Gumi fruits in spring, so they seem uninterested. This is reassuring from a hygiene perspective.
We hope it will grow in the garden of someone who will cherish it.

Thank you for your understanding.
