Sumikko Gurashi is a character from San-X announced in 2012. The subtitle is This is where I feel at home. The author is Yuri Yokomizo, a former designer in San-X's Production Headquarters Design Department, who is now a freelance illustrator. She is responsible for both the illustrations and text. The hiragana sumikko is used for places, and the katakana Sumikko is used for characters. The characters were inspired by doodles drawn in the corner of a notebook during the author's student days.
