【Refurbished, Normal Operation】Sankyo Seiki Drum Clock SANKYO Sachs DT208Z

This is the No. 208Z Drum Clock from Sankyo Seiki (SANKYO Sachs), highly popular among Showa retro appliance enthusiasts.
It has been maintained and is in normal working condition.

This is a drum-type clock from Sankyo Seiki Co., Ltd. (SANKYO Sachs), which is now Nidec Instruments Corporation.
It is a unique item with a retro-futuristic appearance and a dial that glows softly with a backlight.

I acquired this item as a hobby, enjoyed it as part of my collection for a period, and am now selling it as it is no longer needed.

This item, which could still be popular if sold today in the Reiwa era, is occasionally traded on platforms like Yahoo Auctions and Mercari. However, unfortunately, drum clocks from SANKYO of this era have a typical common problem where the motor's pinion gear (made of plastic) completely deteriorates and stops working.
This is why many non-working or junk items are often listed.

When I acquired this item, its exterior was relatively clean, but the pinion gear, like others of its kind, was completely pulverized, rendering it inoperable.

This item is nearly 50 years old, and replacement parts are obviously unavailable. However, I acquired a gear with the same outer diameter and number of teeth as the pulverized original, and after processing, I installed it to restore functionality.
I have tested its operation, and there were no issues, with no noticeable time drift.
Since the weak point, the pinion gear, has been replaced, I believe it should function properly for a long time to come.

The power cord was new when I acquired the item, possibly replaced by a previous owner who attempted repairs.
Furthermore, the neon lamp on this unit had unstable lighting, so that has also been replaced.
Various improvements have been made, restoring it to a condition close to its original state.

Please consider it if you are interested.

There is a 50Hz/60Hz switching switch on the back. Please use it according to the frequency of your region.
