Description
This is a vintage wooden cheval mirror (standing mirror) found in the English countryside.
Circa 1910s. Mahogany wood.

A cheval mirror (Cheval Mirror) is a freestanding mirror that can reflect the entire body. It is a piece of furniture with a long history, first used as a dressing mirror in bedrooms from the 1700s. It is also called a cheval glass (Cheval Glass).

The name comes from the French word [Cheval = horse], and it is said to have been named because the base legs resemble a horse's face.

Basically, a cheval mirror is characterized by a crossbar between the base, a tall support, and a long, narrow mirror attached with a swivel screw, allowing the mirror to be tilted to view the entire body.

By the end of the 18th century, cheval mirrors became very popular, and furniture designers created various designs with elaborate details.

The antique patina of the old wood creates a sense of luxury.
There are some chips and rust due to age, but these are proof of its long history.

It is the perfect size to place in an entryway for a final check of your outfit and makeup before going out. The beautiful frame design is eye-catching, making it ideal for shop fixtures.

The antique charm of this vintage piece, with its aged appearance and simple texture, exudes a nostalgic atmosphere, adding a comfortable warmth and coziness to any space.

It can be used as a display item in a shop, or combined with antique furniture in your daily life to create a scene reminiscent of European films or interior design magazines. Combining it with modern furniture would also be interesting.

Please note that there are stains, scratches, rust, wood cracks, peeling, blemishes, and mirror surface corrosion due to age.
Please purchase with an understanding of these conditions.
