This is an old Okubo iron shear.
It was very rusty, but I have maintained it and am now offering it for sale.

It is unmarked and the place of origin is unknown, but I believe it is hand-forged. These shears have a very substantial and handmade feel.

It is thought to have been made using Japan's traditional forging technique, Hizukuri, which involves hammering and forging steel. The blade is also well-sharpened, and I believe it to be an excellent piece.

● I am currently listing tools from my father, who was a devoted user of Shokoku brand shears among bonsai artists. I also enjoy collecting old tools myself, maintaining them, and then passing them on.

● It is my personal belief that older blades and bonsai tools are better. Naturally, new items are made under pressure of rising raw material costs and cost-cutting measures. Furthermore, the number of craftsmen who can produce them is decreasing due to aging, making production difficult.

● I believe that older items prioritize quality alone, using luxurious materials without hesitation, and showcasing the craftsman's skill.

● These are traditional Okubo shears (gardening shears) used for pruning garden trees and bonsai.
