[About Ibi River Stones]
Ibi River stones, as the name suggests, are Suiseki produced from the Ibi River.
Ibi River stones are mentioned alongside Kamo River stones and Seta River stones, indicating a very long history, believed to date back to the Muromachi period, the era when Suiseki originated.
After the construction of the Tokuyama Dam, regular water releases have controlled the water level, preventing the river from becoming turbulent and increasing the water volume, eliminating the riverbed. Consequently, it is said that Suiseki can no longer be found.
Therefore, it is unlikely that new, high-quality Ibi River stones will be produced in the future, and if you wish to obtain one, you will have to acquire it from someone else.
