【About Ibi River Stones】
Ibi River stones, as their name suggests, are suiseki produced from the Ibi River.
The history of Ibi River stones is quite old, considered to date back to the Muromachi period, the era when suiseki originated, as they are mentioned alongside Kamo River stones and Seta River stones.
After the construction of the Tokuyama Dam, the river has not been turbulent due to regular water releases controlling the water level, and the water volume has increased, eliminating the riverbed. Therefore, it is said that suiseki can no longer be found.
Consequently, it is unlikely that good quality Ibi River stones will be newly produced in the future, and if you wish to obtain one, you will have to acquire it from someone else.
