Received in July 2025, managed for germination, and successfully confirmed root development. Please refer to the photos. Imported from a Ghanaian supplier I've done business with many times. Germination rate is good this time as well.
Grow a giant tree from seed. It's fun, so please try it at least once.
Baobab seedlings are often said to be difficult, but if you do it correctly, they germinate quite well. The best sowing season is summer, but with heating, it can be done any time of year.
Imported legally with a phytosanitary certificate attached. Only the seeds will be sent.
I have them shipped directly to me from Ghana in West Africa, without going through an agent, so I can offer them at a considerably low price.
Please rest assured that they are not cheap due to any defects.
Due to rising prices and shipping costs, there has been a slight price increase from the previous shipment, but I believe this is still the lowest price available.
I will not send extremely small seeds.
I will also include a few extra seeds.
Below is the method I use to confirm root development. While it does not guarantee germination, please use it as a reference if you wish.
【Shipping Method】
Shipped via standard mail, so arrival may take a few days.
No cushioning material due to thickness. As these are hard seeds, it should be fine, but if you are concerned, we can also ship via Yu-Packet Post mini with cushioning material for an additional ¥110. Please comment before purchasing.
--- Sowing Method ---
1. Nick the area where the root will emerge with nippers to facilitate water absorption.
2. Soak in a water solution of Benlate or similar for about 12-24 hours to absorb water.
3. Once the seeds have absorbed water and swollen slightly, peel off the thin outer layer to prevent mold. It can be easily removed with your fingernail.
4. Sandwich the seeds between paper towels, moisten with the Benlate solution, and prevent them from drying out. If the seeds dry out, the softened shell will harden again.
5. After a few days, if roots emerge from the weakened area where you made the nick, as shown in the photo, plant them in soil and manage with a water tray.
Even after germination, continue to prevent the shell from drying out, for example, by loosely covering with plastic wrap.
