Green manure Sorghum is recommended not only for organic cultivation but also for home gardens and gardening.

Since commercially available seeds are sold in large quantities (1kg for 250 sqm), we have repackaged them into 100g (25 sqm) portions for community garden users and home gardeners.

【Features】
Grows quickly, reaching a height of 200cm to 280cm. Highly heat-tolerant and prefers high temperatures. Produces significantly more organic matter than other green manures. Suitable for spring to summer sowing.

＜Uses of Sorghum＞
- Soil improvement by granulation and increasing microorganisms, improving drainage
- Counteracting continuous cropping problems
- Enclosing fields or intercropping for windbreak purposes
- Pest control: As a banker plant
Natural enemies of pests tend to gather on the above-ground parts of sorghum, making it function as a banker crop to suppress pests.

【Sowing Period】
Mid-May to late August. The optimal period is spring to summer when the average daily temperature is 15°C or higher. Around April in warmer regions, and May to July in cooler regions.

【Sowing Rate】
Broadcasting: 4-5 kg/10a
→ 200g = approx. 50 sqm, or 16 tsubo.

Row sowing: 1 kg/10a (for windbreak use) (10a = 100 sqm (33 tsubo))

【Incorporation Timing】
Incorporate sorghum 50-60 days after sowing, when it reaches a height of approximately 200cm.

【Incorporation Method】
For home gardens, cut with a sickle to about 30cm lengths and incorporate.
If the plant height is significant, use a hammer knife mower or similar to chop it up before incorporating.

【Decomposition Period】
After incorporation, wait for 3 to 4 weeks or more before sowing or transplanting the main crop.
