Happy Hill is a variety fixed by Masanobu Fukuoka, a natural farming pioneer, by crossing Burmese rice with Japanese heavy-headed rice and repeatedly selecting it under the strict conditions of natural farming for many years.

Mr. Fukuoka's goal was tough rice that grows solely by the power of nature.
Happy Hill's characteristics include its resistance to disease even without fertilizer or pesticides, its ability to grow as upland rice in fields, and its high yield with many ears per plant.

We first cultivated this variety using seeds purchased from Noguchi Seed Research Institute in 2022 and have continued to grow it until last year. No pesticides have been used at all.

【Important Notes】
The paddy rice being offered this time was not cultivated for seed paddy use.
It was cultivated in a paddy field in the 7th year of Reiwa (2025).
It has not been sorted or disinfected. We recommend planting after water sorting.
Drying was done mechanically.
We have not tested the germination rate, but we have confirmed germination (see photos).

It is expected that 10-20% of the paddy rice sent will float during water sorting. We are including approximately 30% extra (see photos), but please refrain from purchasing if you require stable quality.
Happy Hill is a late-maturing variety. It is not suitable for cold regions such as Tohoku and Hokkaido.

Since 2023, we have cultivated rice under the same conditions as this offering, water-sorted it (see photos), and grown it from the sunken grains, resulting in delicious rice.

We cultivate it in paddy fields, but last year, a neighbor successfully grew and harvested it in their field. They mentioned that they grew seedlings and transplanted them.

● We also have 3kg, 2kg, 500g, 200g, 80g, and 50g quantities available. For now, the maximum quantity is 3kg.

We hope this reaches those who need it and that the circle of Mr. Fukuoka's Happy Hill continues to expand.

We will also include 200g of 7th Year Harvest Asamurasaki (black glutinous rice) paddy, which we grew ourselves. While it is said to be cultivable in fields, we have no experience growing it in fields. Since it is pesticide-free, you can also enjoy it as pop rice. Please let us know if you do not require it.
