Red rice is said to be a wild rice, and I believe it has the strongest vitality among rice varieties.
It is relatively easy to cultivate even in environmentally challenging fields such as terraced paddies, but be careful as excessive fertilization can cause the plants to grow tall and become prone to lodging.
Red rice was originally used for making sekihan (red bean rice), but nowadays azuki beans or sasage beans are used. As it is no longer commonly found in the market, it has become a rice of very high rarity value.
It contains tannins, which have antioxidant properties that remove active oxygen.
These are abundant in the bran, so it is recommended to eat it as brown rice.
Furthermore, compared to white rice, it is also rich in minerals, vitamins, and dietary fiber.
Seed disinfection has not been performed.
Strong wind sorting has been performed, but water sorting has not.
We also handle many other varieties of heirloom and traditional seeds.
Discounts are available for combined purchases, so please check our profile for details.
