Adzuki Beans, 33 beans (pesticide-free, 2025 harvest)

These are 33 adzuki bean seeds harvested from a rural village in Kumamoto (owned by a relative) where I received a pod and have been cultivating and harvesting them from my home garden for over 10 years. They are grown without pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or herbicides.

They have a high germination rate, and I grow them as a green curtain using netting hung from the second floor of my house (harvesting 2.5 to 3 kg).

The soil where the seeds are sown is replaced with new soil, so there are no issues with continuous cropping.

I use the harvested beans to make sekihan (red bean rice) or pressure-cook them to make anko (sweet bean paste) for anpan (sweet buns).

They are higher in protein, potassium, and folic acid than azuki beans, and I recommend them for those who are anemic.

* In my home garden in Yamaguchi Prefecture, I sow seeds in late May every year.
[If not using new soil, mix in dolomitic lime two weeks before sowing the seeds.]

* After sowing, do not let the soil dry out until the seeds germinate.

* There was a year when stink bugs appeared in large numbers, but a praying mantis, a natural enemy, arrived before the adzuki bean pods formed and eliminated them all, so there was no damage.

The seeds will be sent via mini-letter or 4-class mail, which does not include delivery on weekends or holidays. Thank you for your understanding.
