The Okumusashi Jihai Cucumber is a traditional fixed variety passed down in the mountainous regions of Saitama Prefecture, characterized by its old-fashioned texture and aroma ? You can safely grow it in your home garden and save seeds for future planting.

● Features
? Hardy and easy to grow: Resistant to heat, powdery mildew, and downy mildew, making it popular for natural farming and home gardens ?
? Rich flavor and tender: Delicious even with the skin on, offering a crisp texture and a nostalgic aroma.
? High yield: Produces many fruits on lateral branches as well as the main vine. Fruits are approximately 23cm long, with a vibrant dark green color and white warts.

● Cultivation Guide
Sowing: Direct sow from late April to July (optimal germination temperature 25-30℃). Training: Pinch the tip of the main vine when it has 7-8 true leaves, and train the lateral vines that emerge from the leaf axils to spread in all directions. Vertical cultivation is also possible: Space plants adequately and train lateral vines onto a cucumber net or similar support for vertical growth.

● Seed Saving Method
Cut ripe fruits in half and scoop out the seeds with a spoon (well-developed seeds can be harvested from the lower half of the fruit). Let sit overnight in a container, wash with water to remove any empty seeds that float, and dry in the shade for several hours after a few hours of sun drying.
