Okinawa Island Okra (Shima Okra) is an indigenous Okinawan variety characterized by its round pods. Compared to standard okra, it is very tender, does not become stringy even when grown large, and has a sweet flavor. It is versatile for various dishes such as boiling and serving with ponzu sauce, tempura, or dressed salads. It is also highly nutritious and has a unique mucilaginous texture.
