Rhinopetalum Iris (Nioi Iris):
For some reason, this flower is often mistakenly sold as Japanese Roof Iris or White Japanese Roof Iris, but the flowers are completely different.
It is sometimes sold as Japanese Roof Iris in garden centers.

The best way to distinguish it from those is not by the flower, but by the leaves.
Rhinopetalum Iris lacks the characteristic vertical veins on its leaves.

Family: Iridaceae
Genus: Iris

The flower is white with a characteristic yellow, brush-like beard on the outer perianth (lower petal). It is also known as White Iris or Sweet Iris.

Flowering period is from March to April. It blooms earlier than similar irises and flags.

Cultivation:
Easy for beginners to grow.

Basic points:

Planting location:
Choose a location with plenty of sunlight and good ventilation. Avoid damp areas; a dry environment is ideal.

Soil:
Use well-draining soil. If necessary, mix in sand or perlite to improve drainage.
Planting time: Avoid the rainy season and the hot, humid summer months. The best time is after flowering or from September to October.
Watering: Avoid overwatering. Water when the surface of the soil feels dry. Water sparingly, especially during the early growth stages.
Maintenance: After flowering, remove dead leaves and flowers to maintain air circulation around the plant.

By following these basic guidelines, even beginners can successfully grow beautiful Rhinopetalum Irises!

Packaging and Shipping:

After purchase, the plant will be dug up, and the leaves and roots will be trimmed to fit into the shipping container. The base will be wrapped in paper towels for shipping. During packing, leaves and roots may be slightly bent or cut to fit the container without causing damage to the plant. Please understand this in advance.
