This winter-growing bulbous plant (Cape bulb) native to South Africa is characterized by its uniquely spiraling, slender, silver-blue leaves. The more light it receives, the tighter the leaves curl, and it blooms with fragrant flowers from winter to spring. It goes dormant in the summer, shedding its leaves, and survives the season as a bulb. This is a rare succulent with leaves that spiral (corkscrew-like), making it highly ornamental.
* Growing Season: Autumn to Spring (winter-growing). It grows when temperatures are around 20°C and goes dormant in the summer.
* Sunlight: Prefers full sun. The leaves curl more tightly when exposed to ample sunlight. Insufficient light will cause the leaves to grow straight.
* Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil dries out. It is drought-tolerant but requires caution against overwatering.
* Soil and Pot: Well-draining soil and a slitted pot are suitable.
* Summer Care: In summer, the leaves wither and only the bulb remains. Manage by keeping it in a well-ventilated, shaded area and allowing it to dry out.
It blooms with white to pale yellow flowers in spring and prefers a dry environment, making it easy for beginners to care for.
