The bulbs vary in size, from large to medium to small.
These are wild chive bulbs dug up from an abandoned field on our property and hung in the garage.
Wild chives are planted around August. They can be grown in fields, gardens, or planters. It's best to hang them in a net under the eaves to dry until planting, so we'll include one net.
In Niigata, these wild chive bulbs are used as a condiment, and around this time of year, people peel the white bulbs and eat them with miso.
Their crisp texture and spiciness are very popular as snacks with drinks or as a side dish for dinner.
They are also delicious when pickled in soy sauce.
