This is Japanese silver-leaf plant (Tsuwabuki).
It thrives in well-fertilized soil under partial shade. It grows by thickening its roots and dividing. Many seeds with cotton-like tufts fly off, sprout, and increase the plant population.
Tsuwabuki is useful to have. When applied as a compress to bruises or swellings, it is more effective than commercial plasters.
For bruises, this is the remedy.
Remove the leaf, wash it thoroughly to remove fine hairs, wipe off moisture, and then lightly roast it. Apply the shiny green side to the affected area and secure it. It will dry out, so replace it.
It is also good for swellings.
By replacing the leaf with a fresh one daily and applying it as a compress, the swelling will gradually subside and heal.
