Cymbalaria (Ivy-leaved Toadflax) Characteristics

Cymbalaria is a cold-hardy perennial that grows spreading outwards, producing a succession of small, violet-like flowers less than 1cm in diameter from spring to autumn. The leaves are ivy-shaped and have a soft texture.

It prefers sunlight, but grows best when managed in a location with partial shade rather than intense direct sunlight. It can also grow in shade and is hardy and low-maintenance, making it useful as a ground cover for shade gardens, as well as an accent for mixed plantings and hanging baskets.

Its Japanese name, Tsutaba-unran, comes from its ivy-like leaves and its flowers resembling those of Unran (a type of snapdragon). The scientific name, muralis, includes the meaning of wall, referring to its tendency to grow on walls and ramparts.

For customers outside the Kansai region, especially those in areas other than the mainland or on remote islands, there is a risk of the plant arriving dead. We can ship via express mail for an additional 300 yen.
We apologize to customers in Hokkaido, Okinawa, and remote islands, but we cannot offer returns or exchanges even if the plant arrives dead.

Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for perfection.
