An elderly woman who cultivated this variety for decades was confident, urging people to try it.
People from all over Japan, including Nara, Osaka, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Fukushima, heard rumors of its rich sweet and sour taste and came to buy seedlings, saying, I've never eaten a banana like this. What have I been eating until now? It has a wonderful flavor.
Even connoisseurs who are particular about varieties say, Judging by taste alone, it's rich, sweet, and sour, like a Thai variety.
However,
the fruit is incomparably larger than the Thai Nam Wah variety. It is truly delicious and
satisfying to eat.
An elderly man who obtained a seedling before me thought that if this banana is so delicious,
he would like tourists from the mainland to try it, and plans to offer the fruit at a market in central Okinawa, where resort hotels are lined up, this summer.

In my opinion, Futomaru does not seem to be a small-fruited apple.
It's not a Rata Dunda banana, nor a Dwarf Brazilian.
When harvested, it is round, plump, and stout. Apples are usually small like island bananas, but it's a mystery that each fruit is large.
I have seen Vietnamese varieties like the Thongman banana with fruits this large...

It's also strange that such high-quality dessert bananas can be grown with only compost fertilizer in the grandmother's garden, which has poor drainage and clay-like gray soil.
The tree height is 2.5m, which is quite low. It flowers and fruits even in the severe winter of 10 degrees Celsius in early February, suggesting it is a cold-tolerant banana.

Because it is thick and round, it is called Futomaru.

I have become very fond of this variety and have started cultivating it. I intend to spread it throughout the country.
However, since there is a risk of typhoons making landfall this year, and the possibility of the entire crop being destroyed, I am offering one seedling on Mercari to share with a fellow enthusiast as a form of evacuation.
The leaves are 100cm long. The corm is firm.
It can be ripened on the tree without pesticides, suggesting strong disease resistance.

Please forgive us for cutting the leaves and stem to less than 50cm to reduce transpiration during delivery.
