These are bulbs of Jomon Negi, said to be the origin of wakegi (scallions).
They have just been dug up.
Sizes vary from small to large.
Let them rest in partial shade until around July, then bury them in the soil. Cut the leaves as needed for use as a garnish for somen noodles or miso soup. The cut leaves will grow back, so you can enjoy them multiple times.
Around Golden Week next year, one bulb will multiply into about 10. The leaves will then begin to wither, so please dig up the bulbs and let them rest.
They can also be grown in planters.
