Okawakame is not seaweed, but a vine-type leafy vegetable from the Basella family.
When lightly blanched, it develops a slimy texture and mouthfeel similar to seaweed, and is known for its extremely high nutritional value.

Also known as Yunnan Hyakuyaku (Hundred-Year Medicine of Yunnan), it is extremely rich in magnesium, calcium, zinc, folic acid, and vitamin A.
How to Eat: Not only the leaves but also the stems and tubers (mukago) can be eaten. Lightly blanch in boiling water for about 10-15 seconds and then rinse in cold water to bring out its beautiful green color and slimy texture.
Recommended Recipes: Perfect for dishes like blanched greens, dressed salads, vinegared dishes, and as an ingredient in miso soup.
How to Grow:
