Iwatsu Negi Dried Seedlings - 20 pcs
These are dried seedlings of Iwatsu negi, one of Japan's three major green onions.
These were sown and grown last year, and the remaining plants after consumption were dried into negi seedlings. They were grown for personal consumption, so no pesticides were used.
It is easier and less labor-intensive than growing from seed. Plant them around mid-August after the Obon festival, and you can harvest them from October to the following March.
When planting, space the seedlings about 5 cm apart. Wider spacing will result in thicker green onions. As they grow, mound soil around them to lengthen the blanched part.
Iwatsu negi is delicious in both its blanched and green parts. It was a winter food source for the miners of Ikuno Silver Mine during the Edo period.
