If you prefer 2 large pieces or more smaller pieces, please comment. However, the weight limit is 1kg.

Size: Fits multiple pieces in a Nekoposu cardboard box (310x226x30mm) exclusive to Mercari. (See packing reference photos)

◆Thorns have been removed for easy handling.
◆Pesticide-free, so it can be fed immediately as is. For young tortoises with small mouths, cut it into smaller pieces.
◆The thick, nutrient-rich leaves are also ideal for propagation. We recommend cost-effective propagation yourself.
◆Since it comes in a set of multiple pieces, you can use one for immediate feeding and another for propagation.

This variety of prickly pear is edible in Mexico due to its few thorns, tender texture, and good flavor. It can be stored at room temperature for about a month, although it may curl if kept in a place without direct sunlight.

It can be used as food for tortoises and other herbivorous or omnivorous reptiles. It can also be used for cultivation as it can overwinter outdoors in warmer regions from Kanto westward (where temperatures rarely drop below freezing). From spring to autumn, dry the cut ends of the leaves thoroughly (for about 5-10 days), then insert about 1/3 of the leaf into the soil to encourage rooting. It does not require specific soil types as long as it has good drainage. Growth after rooting is extremely fast, as it has been improved for edibility. A new leaf grows every three months, and then a grandchild leaf develops similarly after another three months. As the plant grows larger, multiple new leaves will form simultaneously, making its propagation potential immense. You will understand its economic benefits if you try propagating it from cuttings. The clump photo shown in the image is of a plant that has been in a flower bed for about 3 years, during which time it has also been harvested. It requires minimal care, with little need for fertilizer or watering. If the soil is completely dry for more than two weeks without rain, try watering it. You will notice that if there are new leaves attached at that time, they will grow significantly overnight. Once planted in a flower bed, self-sufficient prickly pear cactus cultivation can be achieved with minimal care, such as weeding.
