The Blue Nuthatch (Scientific Name: Sitta azurea) is a bird belonging to the family Sittidae. It is a medium-sized nuthatch, measuring 13.5 cm in length. This species, which exhibits slight sexual dimorphism, possesses a striking plumage pattern that is distinctly different from other species in the same genus. The head is black or blackish-blue, and the upperparts are a deep blue, almost purple, with blue feathers. The edges of the wings are black. The throat and chest are white or pale buff, contrasting with the very dark blue of the upperparts and belly. The coverts are generally hyaline, bluish-gray, or purplish.

The ecology of the Blue Nuthatch is not well understood, but it feeds on small invertebrates found in trees. The breeding season is from April to June or July. They may also form mixed flocks with other species and forage in large groups. They are distributed in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, and Java in Indonesia, inhabiting subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests above 900 meters in elevation.
