Okinawa Stag Beetle (Prosopocoilus inclinatus) from Minna Island, 9 males, 2 females
79.20 $
Description
Wild-collected specimens from about 10 years ago.
Minnajima is a remote island that can only be reached by high-speed boat from the main island of Okinawa, and I recall that collecting the Okinawan stag beetle there was quite difficult.
I was unable to collect a large-jawed specimen myself, but when a friend later showed me a large-jawed specimen they had collected, I thought its shape seemed slightly different from specimens obtained on the main island of Okinawa.
Male: 30-40mm range (one male, 46mm, is spread-legged)
Female: 32-34mm range
As these are old specimens, some legs may have detached during inspection, but all parts were present and will be included.
All specimens shown in the images, except for the one with detached legs, are complete.
*Sold as a set only.
*Collection data will be provided only to the winning bidder.
