Description
Scientific Name: Cyphogastra javanica
This is a rainbow-colored jewel beetle, so much so that insect specimen artist Takahiro Fukui tweeted that while there are various Japanese names for Nijiiro XX (Rainbow XX), there probably isn't any other insect as rainbow-colored as this species.
The Cyphogastra javanica reaches a body length of approximately 30-40 millimeters. The basic color of its elytra is a deep blue with a metallic luster, while its thorax and head are a metallic red.
This species inhabits Indonesia.
