This is a set of 16 Leap Year Limited Pilgrimage Commemorative Sange received during a pilgrimage of the Shikoku 88 Temple Circuit in 2016 (Heisei 28), a leap year.
These feature a special design awarded only in the commemorative year of Gyaku-uchi (reverse pilgrimage). They are difficult to obtain now, making this set ideal for those looking to complete their collection or keep a memento of their pilgrimage from that time.
This year was particularly special, with blessings for Gyaku-uchi said to be three times greater than usual, inspired by the legend of Kobo Daishi's reverse pilgrimage and his reunion with Emon Saburo. These Sange feature a precious design distributed in commemoration of that event.
